Mobile Crane Operator

Job Summary
Using a mobile crane, the employee in this position will unload precast concrete walls off of trucks as well as handling other materials. The employee will need to have the agility to climb on and off the crane as well as move freely about the job site. This position reports directly to the Fleet Dispatcher or Operations Manager and will work closely with the installation crew members in placing the walls onto the foundation.
Essential Job Functions and Duties
- Operate the machine’s controls in order to perform the designated task within the machine’s capabilities
- Recognize the machine’s limitations in order to work safely in a large variety of job situations
- Recognize operational control problems and report them to the supervisor so they can be adjusted or repaired
- Assist the mechanics in the repair and routine maintenance of the machines
- Maintain all driving records.
- Keep truck clean

Requirements
- HS diploma or equivalent.
- Must possess a Class B commercial driver license (CDL)
- Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screen and background check.
- Must possess a NCCCO Mobile Crane certification.
- Maintain an acceptable attendance record.
- Able to safely operate mobile crane truck.
- Able to communicate with customers, co-workers and dispatcher.
- Appearance should be acceptable to the general public.
- At least 1-year experience driving a Mobile Crane.
- Must be able to climb on and off the crane.
- Self-motivated and able to work without direct supervision.
- Team oriented with the willingness to take direction from others.
- Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving machinery and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position lifts medium objects, sits for long periods of time and performs physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively climbs and jumps. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multilimbed coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina.
